Powerful and capable, the Acura RDX SUV is perfect for adventures, daily commutes, and family drives. Soon it will offer even more, since the next-generation model will feature a hybrid powertrain system that lets you reduce your environmental impact without giving up performance or handling capability. Hall Acura Virginia Beach previews the next generation of Acura engineering.

Hybrid System

When it arrives at Hall Acura Virginia Beach, the next-generation Acura RDX will feature a two-motor hybrid electric powertrain system, making it the first vehicle in the lineup to do so. The current model has a 2.0-liter VTECâ turbo engine that produces up to 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, and we expect to see similar power output in the new hybrid models.

In order to accommodate new engineering and capabilities, 2026 model production will be suspended later this year, so that drivers will be able to access the new hybrid models as soon as possible. The Acura RDX has been chosen as the first vehicle in the lineup because of its continued success and popularity with drivers. In production for nearly two decades, it’s currently in its third generation.

The Future of Acura

The decision to transition to a hybrid Acura RDX configuration is part of a concerted effort by Acura to build vehicles for drivers of the future. Acura is planning on introducing a series of hybrid and electric vehicles moving forward. As the company’s 40th anniversary approaches, it’s an ideal opportunity to mark the next phase of development, engineering, and innovation.
