Pikes Peak and Acura
Pikes Peak is often referred to as “America’s Mountain”, but it is also known to racing enthusiasts as one of the most exciting and daunting tracks around the world. This year marks the 103rd Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, presented by Gran Turismo. Acura showed up with the #93 Acura Integra Type S DE5, the racing version of which produces 360 horsepower thanks to a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. And that wasn’t Acura’s only contribution to the day. Olympic speed skater Rusty Smith piloted the official pace car, an Integra Type S HRC Prototype.
Katherine Legge Behind the Wheel
In 2018, Acura engineer and driver Nick Robinson set a front wheel drive record of 10:48 with a 500 horsepower Acura TLX. Rookie driver Katherine Legge came very close on her practice run, at just 10:51, and the final run was unfortunately incomplete due to the weather conditions on the day of the race.
Legge competed on Pikes Peak for the first time last year, saying, “It was an honor to compete in Pikes Peak …as I had always dreamt of being among the famous drivers who have tackled the mountain.” Inclement weather cut the 2025 edition short, too; winds at the peak were over 80 miles per hour, and the course was shortened by nearly 60% as a result. We hope to see Legge and her Acura Integra return next year.
